Facebook has announced a partnership with the Carolina Code School to fund scholarships for Greenville participants to attend coding boot camps. The partnership was developed from both interest and high demand from the local community for Facebook to do more around workforce development, as well as demand from small- to medium-sized businesses to have more digitally skilled workers, according to a news release.

The announcement was made today by Facebook representatives, Greenville Mayor Knox White, the S.C. Department of Commerce and community partners as part of the Greenville Facebook Community Boost event being held downtown this week.

Facebook will fund 25 scholarships for members of the Greenville community to attend the school's coding boot camps. Carolina Code School's full-time, 12-week program will give participants hands-on exposure to the concepts and projects to build a career in web development. Boot camp graduates will also be eligible to receive credit hours from Greenville Technical College, which can later be applied to the college's technology programs, according to the release.
