Spartanburg-based Milliken & Co. recently announced a new chairman, president and chief executive officer for the company following the immediate resignation of Joe Salley.
In a news release, the company said J. Harold Chandler had been appointed to the post, effective immediately.
Chandler is a 14-year member of the Milliken & Co. board of directors, serving as chairman for the last five years.
The reason for Salley’s resignation was not made available. Salley had worked for Milliken for 20 years including the past eight as president and CEO.
“I am honored to take on the additional roles of president and CEO. I look forward to working with a uniquely qualified group of executives, associates and board members,” Chandler said, in the release. “Our initial step will be to ensure an effective transition and to maintain the positive momentum from which the company is currently benefiting. Together, we will continue to innovate, contribute to Spartanburg and our other communities, and be a leader in our industry.”
According to Milliken, Chandler is a graduate of Wofford College and has served on its board of trustees for 24 years, including the last five as its chairman.
Milliken & Co. has accumulated more than 2,200 U.S. patents and has more than 35 manufacturing facilities located in the U.S., United Kingdom, Belgium, France, China, India and Australia. Some of its products include chemicals, floor coverings, industrial textiles and composites.
