Spartanburg County will host an information session to connect residents with pathways to a career in manufacturing. Through a statewide partnership, an accelerated Lean Manufacturing certification has been developed and will be initially accepted by BMW’s Supplier Network in lieu of one year’s manufacturing experience, according to an announcement from BMW Manufacturing and Spartanburg Economic Futures Group.

Attending residents will learn about the accelerated certificate and the opportunities available with BMW’s Supplier Network upon completion of the program, the news release said.

The meeting is 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, July 14, at Byrnes High School, District Five Fine Arts Center, 150 East Main Street in Duncan. Registration is required, and space is limited to 1,000 attendees, the news release said.
The information session is for residents of Spartanburg County; manufacturing experience is not required to attend, the news release said.

“Our suppliers play an important role in our global supply chain network,” said Murat Aksel, senior vice president for purchasing and Supplier Network Americas. “Their creativity brings innovation and new technology into our products and plants. Such creativity requires a highly-motivated and skilled workforce.  BMW and its suppliers are committed to the development of our community’s future workforce.”
