Auto glassmaker investing in Fountain Inn

Fuyao North America Inc., a venture of China-based Fuyao Glass Industry Group Co. Ltd., is investing $16.1 million in a new processing center in Greenville County. The investment is expected to create approximately 70 new jobs, according to the S.C. Department of Commerce.

The company is building a new 182,000-square-foot processing center with light production capabilities at 110 Milacron Drive in Fountain Inn.

"Today marks another chapter for our company as we invest in this new Greenville County processing center. We are thankful for the assistance we have received from the state and county governments, and we look forward to making a difference in the local community," said Dan Martin, Fuyao North America Inc. general manager, in a news release.

The Fuyao Group produces automotive glass for original equipment manufacturers and aftermarket suppliers, the release said.

"Fuyao North America was attracted to Upstate South Carolina due to the great opportunities in our automotive manufacturing sector,” Butch Kirven, Greenville County Council chairman, said in the release. “As a globally-respected business focused on innovation, product excellence and customer service, we welcome them to Greenville County."

The Coordinating Council for Economic Development awarded a $100,000 Set Aside grant to Greenville County to assist with costs associated with the project.
