U.S. Waffle Co. is investing $22.1 million in a new frozen food processing facility in Pickens County, creating approximately 114 jobs, according to the S.C. Department of Commerce.

U.S. Waffle Co. is relocating its existing operations and adding new production lines at an existing, 310,000-square-foot facility at the intersection of U.S. Highway 123 and U.S. Highway 178 in Liberty. The company’s website shows it is headquartered in Greenville.

"We're excited for our new Pickens County facility to come online, as it will allow our team to continue providing high-quality products to our customers,” U.S. Waffle Co. CEO John Symons said in a news release. “We'd like to thank our local and state partners for their continued support, and we look forward to joining the Pickens County business community."

The new facility will produce frozen pancakes and waffles for retailers and restaurants. The plant is expected to be open in the fourth quarter of this year.

The Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved job development credits related to the project. A $200,000 Set Aside grant also was awarded to Pickens County to assist with costs associated with the project.
