Supply chain delays created by COVID-19 coping strategies are causing BMW Manufacturing to stop production lines earlier than the original April 3 target date reported on Friday.
“The coronavirus pandemic has resulted in a very dynamic situation,” the company said today in a news release. “We’ve had to adjust our plans accordingly. Shelter-in-place orders in individual states have disrupted the supply chain sooner than anticipated.”
Plant Spartanburg will close from Sunday until April 12.
“We will continue to monitor the ongoing situation very closely and adjust our plans as circumstances dictate,” the news release said.
