BASF’s site in Seneca recently became the first manufacturing industry partner to join the Keowee Key Community Partnership, an organization that brings community partners together with an objective to improve the lives of people in Oconee County.

“What an incredible difference BASF is making today,” Jon Bachman, chairman of the Keowee Key Community Partnership, said in a news release. “Having the company as our first major manufacturing partner is a boon to the people of Oconee County. All of us, our non-profit partners, and the people they serve, are thrilled.”

BASF is one of 21 community partners. Each partner donates monetary support to community organizations, along with volunteer hours to community projects each year, the news release said. Keowee Key members volunteer more than 100,000 hours annually to support local charities.

Over the past several years year, BASF in Seneca has donated to Safe Harbor, the Seneca City Fire Department, the Friendship Fire Department, the Oconee County Hazmat Unit, Oconee County Memorial Hospital, Collins Children’s Home, and $50,000 to the city of Seneca for recovery after a tornado in April 2020, according to the release.
