Junior League’s Little Black Dress initiative raises $20,793

The Junior League of Greenville’s second annual Little Black Dress initiative earned more than $20,000 in a single week in an effort to raise awareness about the Junior Leagues’s mission and funds for Greenville’s at-risk communities. The league is continuing to accept donations through Oct. 31.

“I am so proud of the 30 Junior League of Greenville members who wore their little black dresses for five consecutive days,” said Amy Rogers, Junior League of Greenville president, in a news release. “The funds raised will be help promote our mission and fund some of the programs and initiatives we support.

About 30 members donned their little black dresses, accepting donations ranging from $1 to $250. Waitr kicks off Thanksgiving food drive

Waitr food delivery app is helping feed local families in need this Thanksgiving. Beginning today, anyone using Waitr can make a donation that will go toward buying meals for the less fortunate during the annual November holiday.

The food drive, called “Share Thanksgiving,” allows people to click on a “Donate a Meal” button after they order from Waitr, then choose a dollar amount ranging from $2 to $10. Donations also can be made online through the Waitr website. Waitr and its participating restaurant partners will match a portion of the money received, according to a news release.

Using the donations, Waitr will deliver free hot meals prepared by local restaurants to hungry families in the Greenville area during Thanksgiving week, the release said. The donation drive will continue through Nov. 15.
