Opportunity zone summit planned next month

A summit about maximizing the benefits related to opportunity zones across South Carolina is set for next month in Greenville. 

The S.C. Opportunity Zone Summit will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 10 at the Greenville Convention Center. Guest speaker U.S. Sen. Tim Scott will attend, along with an array of industry experts, business leaders and community stakeholders.

“Opportunity zones are fundamental for the economic growth and prosperity of South Carolina,” Scott said in the news release. “I applaud the work the S.C. Opportunity Fund is doing to invest in the infrastructure of our communities.”

S.C. Opportunity Fund LLC was founded in 2018 with a focus on investing in high-quality opportunity zone real estate in South Carolina with financial, social and environmental return targets. Located in Greenville, the S.C. Opportunity Fund seeks to help revitalize communities and stimulate economic growth in cities around South Carolina, while also protecting and growing investor capital.

“I look forward to bringing those interested together to discuss the necessity for investment of opportunity zones in South Carolina,” said Mark Elliott, managing partner of the S.C. Opportunity Fund.
