Greenville Water partners with state nature conservancy

Greenville Water announced a three-year commitment to The Nature Conservancy of South Carolina through a $30,000 donation and community partnership.

The utility company will join The Nature Conservancy during outreach events that raise awareness about the role forests play in providing clean water, while the conservancy will extend fire management assistance in controlled burn efforts near the watershed, according to a news release.

Countybank pledges $48,385 to United Way Greenville

Associates at Countybank and its affiliate, Greenwood Capital, donated $38,385 during an annual giving campaign for the United Way of Greenville County. The gift was bolstered by $10,000 from the Countybank Foundation.

“Because of their generosity, we will be there to ensure all people in Greenville have access to opportunities to achieve their full potential,” Meghan Barp, United Way of Greenville CEO and president, said in a news release.

Greenville tech high school aids with food drive

Greenville Technical Charter High School will join forces with Harvest Hope, Miracle Hill Food Warehouse, United Ministries and Sunbelt Human Advancement resources for a food drive on Friday from 8 a.m. to noon. The community is invited to donate nonperishable foods and toiletries at Greenville Technical College’s Barton Campus at 506 S. Pleasantburg Drive in parking lot D.

Gaffney business distributes flags to raise funds

As a fundraiser for the Cherokee County History and Arts Museum, Gaffney Embroidery and the Gaffney Fire Department will distribute and maintain flags for city citizens for a fee. The locally-sourced flags will be placed on a nine-foot pole in yards or in front of businesses on Veteran’s Day, Martin Luther King Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day and Independence Day and removed afterward.
