Eight economic developers have graduated from the S.C. Economic Developers’ Advanced Symposium, an advanced level course for professional economic development practitioners. They earned the accreditation of S.C. Certified Economic Developer. To date, fewer than 70 people have completed the program, according to a news release.

The symposium is a cooperative endeavor of the S.C. Economic Developers’ Association and the S.C. Department of Commerce.

The 2019 advanced symposium graduates are:

  • Eliza Buxton, Sumter Economic Development/The LINK
  • Lindsey Culley, Mashburn Construction
  • Jamie Gilbert, Lancaster County Department of Economic Development
  • Marc Metcalf, Upstate SC Alliance
  • Brian Rauschenbach, Sumter Economic Development/The LINK
  • Lauren Branham Reeder, Kershaw County Economic Development
  • Lauren Stanton, Francis Marion University
  • Brantley Strickland, Southern Carolina Regional Alliance

“Creating thriving communities is key to laying the foundation for job creation and capital investment throughout our state,” S.C. Commerce Secretary Bobby Hitt said in the release. “The completion of the advanced symposium is a demonstration of commitment and dedication to implementing excellence in economic development.”
