The Greenville Chamber elected Cal Hurst, chief banking officer at Southern First and current chamber board treasurer, to serve as the chair of its board of directors in 2023. The chamber also elected eight new board members.

Hurst has served on the board for two years, and is also a member of several other boards including United Way of Greenville County and Greenville First Steps, according to a news release.

“Through my involvement with the chamber, I have found a group of people who are committed to making a positive and lasting impact on others by driving economic growth, development of a talented and prepared workforce, and advocacy on behalf of businesses and individuals around critical issues in Greenville County,” Hurst said in the release. “I am so proud to be a part of such a group and am committed to doing all I can to continue this important work, and I encourage any who are passionate about the continued success of businesses here to join us.”

New board members will include:

•Euleta Alston, president of US&S

•Ashley Cuttino, shareholder of Ogletree Deakins

•Stephanie DeFreese, vice president of G&I Agency Sales of BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina

•Basil Dosunmu, vice president of administration and finance of Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport

•Kevin Hammonds, Fluor senior vice president of law-Americas

•Merle Johnson, city of Greenville Director of Economic and Community Development

•Larry Miller, vice president of learning and workforce development of Greenville Technical College

•Michelle Seaver, president of United Community Bank for Greenville, Spartanburg and Cherokee counties.

Max Metcalf, manager of government and community relations at BMW Manufacturing Co., will serve as immediate past chair. Will Huss, CEO of Trehel Corp., will chair the board in 2022.

“The chamber is in a better place because of Cal’s involvement and talents,” Huss said in the release. “I look forward to serving with him on a different level, but mainly look to how well he will do as the next chairman of the Greenville Chamber.”
