South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services is opening an office in downtown Spartanburg, in the 101 Pine office complex.

The 19,667 square foot office includes the third and fourth floors of the complex, which are undergoing an upfit in preparation for the DHHS office opening at the end of April, according to a news release.

“We are excited to add the S.C. Department of Health and Human Services to the diverse tenant mix at the 101 Pine building. The organization provides an abundance of services to the citizens of South Carolina and we are delighted to assist in its need for growth,” said Alex Powell, commercial real estate manager for Johnson Development Associates, in the release. “Johnson Development is constantly making efforts to fit the needs of the growing office population in downtown Spartanburg and we continue to be energized by the future potential of the market.”

101 Pine is a development of Johnson Development Associates. With the addition of the DHHS office the complex becomes 100% occupied, the release said.

“Another office building in Spartanburg has reached 100% occupancy. With seven colleges and the eighth fastest growing millennial population in the country, Spartanburg is firmly demonstrating its ability to recruit and retain corporate type talent,” Allen Smith, president and CEO of the Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce, said in the release. “Announcements such as these indicate a need for more product and our ability to support back office projects.”
