Affordable housing communities are not a new feature to NHE’s portfolio, as the company has developed and managed dozens in Spartanburg, Greenville, Rock Hill, Columbia, Charleston and Anderson, but Parkside will be the first to enter the North Carolina market, according to a news release.

The development is a joint venture between NHE, SCG Development Partners and Greenville’s Creative Builders, with additional support from Steele Group Architects and Design Resource Group. According to the release, units at the community will be available for prospective tenants with household incomes ranging from 30% to 80% of the area median income levels for the Charlotte area.

“The Queen City of Charlotte is a growing, thriving area, and NHE is excited to add these high-quality affordable housing apartments at Parkside at Hickory Grove, which we consider to be an excellent addition to Charlotte’s affordable housing landscape,” Taylor Davis, CEO of NHC, said in the release. “We have sought the right opportunities in the market for several years for a project such as this and are pleased to work with our partners in bringing this important initiative to reality.”

The community’s apartments, ranging from 736 square feet to 1,157 square feet, feature high ceilings, stone countertops, Shaker cabinets and utility hookups.
