Germany-based logistics and SAP service provider AbatUS will invest $10 million in a new Greenville location established to serve growing business in the Southeast.

A subsidiary of AbatAG, the company assists original equipment manufacturers through project planning, consulting, SAP optimization and other services, specializing in German and European-owned businesses.

“We welcome AbatUS to Greenville County and salute their decision to establish operations here as a new and valuable member of our vibrant business community,” H.G. "Butch" Kirven, Greenville County Council chairman, said in a news release. Kirven is also a board member for the Greenville Area Development Corporation, which made the announcement. “They bring a global reputation for excellence in process and project optimization, offering new concepts to the advanced manufacturing and logistic community.”

The logistics group, a sister company to Adah International, has 40 employees in the United States and is expected to add 35 positions with the Greenville location on the 4th floor at 1 North Main St. Current customers include BMWBLG LogisticsDaimler and Swiss Krono

“After much deliberation, we chose Greenville over other locations due to its proximity to customers and its commitment to developing talent,” AbatAdah Group President and CEO Kirk Atkinson said in the release.

Atkinson and senior consultant Itha Venter will oversee AbatUS’s Greenville operations.  Atkinson draws from a career in project management and economic development with World Business Advisors, Tuscaloosa County, Ala., and BLG Logistics, where he received training in German and international relations during his time at the BLM’s European operations. Venter specializes in logistics consulting and SAP software implementation for automotive industries.

“We are looking forward to expand our business relations with known and new customers and become the preferred consulting company in the Upstate that IT professionals will want to be part of, while contributing to the regional economy,” Venter said in the release.
