A systemwide outage for Delta Air Lines Inc. led to a flight cancellation and delays today at Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport in Greer.
Rosylin Weston, vice president of communications and community relations for GSP, said 14 Delta flights were scheduled for departure today. The first, a 6:23 a.m. flight to LaGuardia Airport in New York, was canceled.
“I can’t confirm the cancellation was due to the Delta outage, but it was more than likely related to that issue,” Weston said.
The first Delta flight to leave GSP today was an 8:12 a.m. flight to Detroit, Mich. Remaining Delta flights are delayed and Weston encourages travelers to “contact the airline for information specific to your flight.”
According to the Delta website, a morning power outage in Atlanta, Delta’s hub, impacted the airline’s computer systems and operations worldwide.
At noon, Delta reported it had canceled approximately 365 flights. As of 10:30 a.m., Delta operated 1,200 of its nearly 6,000 scheduled flights. While systems are improving and flights are resuming, delays and cancellations continue, according to the airline’s website.
Delta has announced a travel waiver is in effect. Information can be found on the airline’s website.
