Greenville pilot gets Instructor of the Year nod

Greenville resident and Stratos Aviation flight instructor Dimitri Partafyllas has been named 2019 Flight Instructor of the Year for the South Carolina District of the Federal Aviation Administration.

Dimitri PartafyllasThe award acknowledges “outstanding accomplishment and leadership excellence in the pursuit of aviation safety,” according to a news release.

“Dimitri’s exemplary flight instructor record is indicative of his professionalism and steadfast commitment to flight instruction and aviation safety,” James Cline, aviation safety program manager for the FAA Safety Team known as FAASTeam, in the release.

Stratos Aviation has conducted flight instruction out of the Greenville Downtown Airport since 2014 and has been recognized as a Distinguished Flight School by the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association for three years in a row, according to the release.
