Upstate business leaders nominated for S.C. DOT Commission

Pam ChristopherGov. Henry McMaster has nominated two Upstate business leaders to serve on the S.C. Department of Transportation Commission.

Pamela Christopher, CEO of the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce, will represent the 3rd Congressional District if confirmed. Nancy Whitworth, consultant for the Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce and former interim city manager of the city of Greenville, was nominated for an at-large seat vacated by former commissioner Kristen Blanchard this spring, according to a news release.

They will bring an important upstate perspective to the commission,” McMaster said in the release. “They share my commitment to transparency and accountability for the use of taxpayers’ dollars and will ensure that our state’s roads and bridges are repaired and maintained in the most efficient and strategic manner possible."

Christopher’s nomination awaits confirmation by the legislative delegation representing the 3rd Congressional District, while Whitworth’s at-large appointment will be submitted to the S.C. House of Representatives and Senate for confirmation, according to the release.
