Ten at the Top has scheduled a workshop focused on food access for seniors on Thursday, April 25, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. The session, which is free and open to the public, will be held in the Park 37 Community Building at 250 Executive Center Drive in Greenville.

With the number of Upstate residents over the age of 65 projected to rise from roughly 12% of the total population in 2010 to more than 25% by 2030, the TATT Senior Issues Committee is focused on educating and raising awareness among community stakeholders around important issues facing seniors today and into the future, according to a news release.

According to the South Carolina Department on Aging, 20% of South Carolinians over the age of 60 are food insecure, so the barriers that seniors face in accessing nutritious food need to be identified and removed, the release said. The workshop panelists will cover a range of topics relating to this issue.
