The Upstate has been getting a lot of love in the national press.

Greenville, Greer, Mauldin, Spartanburg — take your pick on which city has been getting the most headlines.

This time the award goes to Greenville, which is ranked No. 6 on Conde Nast Traveler’s list of the top 10 small cities in the U.S., as ranked by its readers.

The national publication goes so far as to say the city is “on the cusp of stardom,” urging people to plan a visit before it goes big time.

It calls Greenville a “food lover’s town” for its farm-to-table scene and innovative cocktail concoctions (pointing out favorites like Jianna and Vault & Vator).

The listing also highlights Greenville’s parks scene and proximity to an abundance of natural resources.

Greenville isn’t the only city basking in the national glow. Greer, which Thrillist recently named the city one of the “best suburban neighborhoods you should totally move to,” is capitalizing on its rising popularity and millions in redevelopment projects to rebrand and launch a new tourism division with the aim of attracting visitors from across the state and the U.S.
