SPARTANBURG – Power Up University, launched in partnership with Spartanburg County’s higher education institutions and supported by a $50,000 investment from Bank of America, provides small and minority business-owners the chance to start and finish a business-centered certification or degree. Each partner institution will focus on a different curriculum level.

So far, the initiative has partnered with Spartanburg Community College and USC Upstate. Details on the curriculum for Spartanburg Methodist College are still in development.

During a celebration event held 4/29, leaders from One Spartanburg, the colleges and Bank of America gathered with other community stakeholders to celebrate the official kick off of Power Up University.

“Power Up University brings together our partners in higher education to elevate small and minority-owned business owners in our community,” said Stacy Brandon, president Bank of America Upstate South Carolina. “We will continue to support efforts that promote small business growth in Spartanburg and ultimately help improve economic mobility for all in this community.”
