Fluor Corp.’s Golf for Greenville charity golf tournament raised $670,000 for three Upstate charities — the Greenville Free Medical Clinic, Goodwill of the Upstate and Midlands and Make-A-Wish South Carolina, according to a news release. The tournament was played at four of The Cliffs golf courses by more than 450 participants.

Proceeds from the tournament will allow the Greenville Free Medical Clinic to purchase new ophthalmology equipment; Goodwill to purchase an 8,000-square-foot building in Greenville to serve as Goodwill Industries’ Youth Services Campus and Make-A-Wish Foundation the ability to grant the wishes of Upstate children suffering from life-threatening medical conditions, the release said.

“We’re proud to team up with these three incredible agencies as they work to address some of the most pressing needs in the Upstate of South Carolina,” said Fluor’s Brittany Heusgen, in the release. “These agencies provide a wide variety of services to those in need, and the proceeds from this year’s tournament will help fund projects that will make a difference in our community for years to come.”

A team of more than 120 Fluor volunteers contributed thousands of hours to organize and operate the tournament. Since its inception in 1989, Fluor’s Golf for Greenville charity golf tournament has raised more than $5.7 million for charities in the greater Greenville area, according to the release.
