Spartanburg Community College extends free tuition scholarship program for 2024-2025 academic year

The Hub City Spartanburgers aren’t the only thing making a comeback in the Upstate! Spartanburg Community College (SCC) is excited to announce its innovative free tuition program, the Live to Chase Initiative, has been extended for the 2024-2025 academic year. This initiative aims to provide South Carolina residents with a high-quality education free from the burden of tuition at a time when college costs are at an all-time high.

Eligibility and Requirements:
To qualify for the Live to Chase Initiative, students must meet the following criteria:

-Be a resident of South Carolina
-Complete the 2024 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
-Enroll in at least six credit hours in a dedicated program of study
-Maintain a minimum 2.2 GPA

Important Details:
-The Live to Chase Initiative covers tuition costs for academic (credit) programs only. Books, supplies, program, lab, and course fees, as well as other non-tuition expenses, are not included.
-Live to Chase funds are only available for a limited time, so interested students are encouraged to apply promptly.

A Legacy of Success:
SCC was the first college in South Carolina to launch a free tuition initiative in May 2021, utilizing federal pandemic aid funds. Building on this success, SCC introduced the Live to Chase Initiative in February 2023, reflecting the College’s commitment to the communities it serves.

Since 2020, SCC’s free tuition initiatives and other strategic enhancements have led to a 54% increase in enrollment, reversing a decade-long decline. All told, over 2,800 students have graduated with little to no student debt, highlighting the program’s significant impact.
