AFL gives $287K to United Way

Spartanburg-based manufacturer AFL donated $287,000 to United Way of the Piedmont. The donation sets a record with a 21% increase over last year’s donation and an 11% increase in associate donations, according to a news release.

“United Way of the Piedmont is a force in our community,” said Corie Culp, community relations manager for AFL, in the release. “Our associates are completely engaged through volunteerism, serving on boards and committees and through our annual campaign. They have a clear understanding of the impact and this year’s contribution shows their commitment to our community.”

AFL locations in Washington, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and North Carolina also participated in the campaign with more than $37,000 presented to those communities. The campaign generated $325,000 in donations in five states, the release said.
