Wheels for Meals Charity Ride provides more than 26,900 meals

The 12th annual Wheels for Meals Charity Ride benefiting Meals on Wheels of Greenville, presented by Fluor Corp., provided more than 26,900 meals for the homebound clients of Meals on Wheels.

The event featured more than 400 cyclists, a 10-mile Family Fun Ride, a 25-mile, 50-mile, 72-mile and 100-mile English Century, and finished the day with a post-ride celebration.

“We are truly grateful for the cyclists, corporate sponsors, volunteers and donors who supported the 2018 Wheels for Meals Charity Ride,” said Amanda Osborne, director of development at Meals on Wheels of Greenville, in a news release. “The funds raised through this event will make a big impact in the lives of the homebound individuals throughout Greenville County.”

Funds from the Wheels for Meals Charity Ride are raised through sponsorships and peer-to-peer fundraising by participants. Since the ride’s inception, Wheels for Meals has provided more than 296,700 meals for the homebound.

 

Shop for Greenville fundraiser raises more than $15K

The Junior League of Greenville recently held its inaugural Shop for Greenville fundraiser, a 10-day discount shopping event featuring local businesses. Partnering with 78 participating retailers and 13 selling locations, the Junior League of Greenville sold 325 Shop for Greenville discount cards to raise more than $15,000. All of the proceeds will go to supporting the league’s programs and partnering community agencies who work to improve the lives of women and children, according to a news release.
