The Workforce Data Collaborative is surveying employers and employees in the SCTAC/Donaldson area to identify barriers to workforce participation and career progression. The survey will be available until Nov. 16 and results will be shared with business leaders and policymakers to inform solutions, according to a news release.
Area organizations formed the Workforce Data Collaborative earlier this year to conduct the research critical to advancing Greenville’s economic development. Partnering organizations include the Greenville Chamber of Commerce, Greenville Area Development Corp., Appalachian Council of Governments and SC Works.
The collaborative identified four major barriers to employment and career progression, including transportation, child care, affordable housing and criminal records, the release said.
The first phase of data collection covered the downtown area and included a transportation-focused survey. The group recently concluded a survey of the Brookfield/Mauldin area. Those results are being analyzed and will be presented to the public on Nov. 9, at 10 a.m. at the Mauldin Cultural Center.
