Chamber schedules Athena symposium

The Greenville Chamber of Commerce’s annual Athena Leadership Symposium is scheduled for Nov. 8, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Greenville Convention Center. The event will feature keynote speaker Jodie W. McLean, CEO of development and real estate company Edens. In addition, the Athena Organizational Leadership Award will be presented to honor an organization “excelling in support and development of women leaders.”

The Athena Leadership Symposium is one of the Greenville chamber’s primary efforts to advance women’s leadership, according to a news release. It is inspired by recipients of the Athena Leadership Award, which is presented each year at the chamber’s annual meeting to women who have made significant contributions to Greenville in promoting community prosperity and quality of life.

“Through this event we strive to inspire women to achieve their full potential as well as equip business and community leaders, both men and women, with the tools necessary to develop exemplary, inclusive organizations,” said Carlos Phillips, chamber president and CEO, in the release.
