A real estate firm based in Charlotte has purchased McBee Station, a high-profile, mixed-use shopping center located at the corner of Church Street and McBee Avenue in downtown Greenville.

Aston Properties purchased the shopping center from Barings, a global investment manager headquartered in Charlotte, closing the deal on Jan. 8 — making Aston one of the largest retail owners in the Greenville metropolitan statistical area, according to the Aston Properties news release.

In addition to McBee Station, Aston owns McDaniel Village, North Hills Shopping Center, Verdae Village, and Powdersville Plaza.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The more than 79,000-square-foot center features anchor tenants Publix and Staples, along with several local businesses such as Greektown Grille, McBee Nail Lounge, Design on Tap, and more.

“McBee Station is one of the premier grocery-anchored shopping centers in the Greenville market,” said George S. Dewey IV, president and CEO of Aston. “We are committed to providing a first-class shopping environment so that tenants can continue to provide essential business services to the downtown Greenville community.”

Aston Managing Director, Barnes Connell, said the company is a strong believer in the Greenville market.

“Aston sees great opportunity in the Greenville community, and we are excited to deepen our investment in the area with the acquisition of McBee Station,” said Connell. “McBee gives Aston exposure to the downtown Greenville submarket, while also catering to surrounding residential neighborhoods.”

Berkeley Capital Advisors, a retail investment brokerage firm, represented Barings in the transaction.
