A new retail project that looks to reimagine a slice of property on Greenville’s eastside is underway.

Aston Properties of Charlotte and Sprouts Farmers Market, one of the largest and fastest growing specialty retailers of fresh, natural and organic food in the United States, celebrated the groundbreaking of the newest Sprouts location at the North Hills Shopping Center on Greenville’s eastside.

Sprouts is the first step of a multimillion-dollar investment by Aston Properties to reimagine the property near the corner of Pleasantburg Drive and East North Street, a news release stated.

The Sprouts at the North Hills Shopping Center will offer a wide assortment of products, including fresh seasonal produce, custom-cut meats, vitamins and supplements, ready-to-eat meals, dietary options such as gluten-free or paleo, and thousands of other natural, organic, non-GMO, vegan and plant-based products, the release stated.

Sprouts will occupy approximately 25,000-square-feet at the North Hills Shopping Center and is slated to open in 2024, according to the release. The North Hills store is the second Sprouts location in the Upstate.

Improvements to the North Hills Shopping Center, originally built in 1975, will include updated facades, landscaping, patios, and storefronts plus parking lot repairs.

Aston Properties President and CEO George S. Dewey IV said the company is thrilled to elevate the center for existing tenants and attract exciting new tenants like Sprouts to the North Hills Shopping Center.

“Sprouts’ commitment to positively impact the neighborhoods where its customers and team members live aligns with our vision to improve the quality of shopping experiences for the surrounding community,” Dewey IV said in the release. “We’re excited to welcome Sprouts Farmers Market to the North Hills Shopping Center and we look forward to working with their team.”

Aston Properties Managing Director Barnes Connell said the company sees great opportunity in the Greenville market, the release stated. The Charlotte-based company owns three other centers in the Greenville area, including Verdae Village, McDaniel Village and Powdersville Plaza.

Sprouts Farmers Market joins a variety of tenants at the North Hills Shopping Center such as UFC Gym and several restaurants and retail shops, including Golden Llama, the UPS Store, El Molcajete, Korean Bulgogi, Oscar Nail Spa, Venus Beauty Supply, and Boost Mobile.
