Dr. Tracy Hudgins of Greenville Technical College selected for USC Nursing Leadership Program

Dr. Tracy Hudgins, academic program chair for the Nursing Department at Greenville Technical College (GTC), has been selected to participate in the 2024-2025 Amy V. Cockcroft Leadership Fellowship with the University of South Carolina College of Nursing.

Since 1994, the Amy V. Cockcroft Leadership Fellowship has provided opportunities for passionate nurse leaders to hone their leadership skills. The fellowship prepares nurse leaders to meet the urgent demands of today’s healthcare environment and equips them to lead and navigate complex organizations, academic institutions, and additional community settings.

The program’s current cohort is underway with a March 2025 graduation date. Five three-day sessions are held throughout the year focused on leading through periods of change, building partnerships and circles of influence, and forging collaborations.

Dr. Hudgins has spent 31 years in the field of nursing, working as a mental health, pediatric, community, and emergency room nurse before becoming a nurse leader and educator. She has earned associate, bachelor’s, master’s, and a doctorate degree in nursing. Prior to her role as the academic program chair at GTC, Dr. Hudgins previously served as an associate professor for USC Upstate, Liberty University, and the Jefferson College of Health Sciences. She is a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) by the National League for Nursing and credentialed as a Nurse Executive (NE-BC) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

“Dr. Hudgins serves as an example to students of the value of continuing to learn at all stages of their careers,” said Dr. Candice Lewis, dean of the Greenville Technical College School of Health Sciences. “She started her nursing education at the community college level and continued until she earned a doctorate degree. The Amy V. Cockcroft Leadership Fellowship will grow her leadership skills, benefitting the program she heads and the students she encourages.”
