Recovery Centers of America, a leading provider of comprehensive addiction treatment services on the East Coast, in the Midwest and in the South, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Dean Drosnes as the new Medical Director of its Greenville facility. Dr. Drosnes brings a wealth of knowledge to this position and a compassionate approach to patient care.

Dr. Drosnes completed a Fellowship in Addiction Medicine at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland in 2010 and is Board Certified in Addiction Medicine by the American Board of Preventive Medicine. During his 40 years of medical practice, he has gained extensive experience in head and neck surgery, infectious diseases, behavioral health, and substance use disorders. He has previously held an academic appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Penn State University School of Medicine and served on the Physicians-In-Training Committee of the American Society of Addiction Medicine.

In addition to spearheading advances in patient care, Dr. Drosnes enjoys educating medical and nursing students, families, community organizations, and local and national conference attendees on the scientific and medical aspects of addictive disorders. His areas of expertise include alcohol, sedative, stimulant and opioid use disorders, medication-assisted treatment, and opioid-sparing pain management in people with opioid use disorder and chronic pain.
