Mungo Homes Foundation announces Week of Service

The Mungo Homes Foundation is proud to announce the third-annual Week of Service, which will take place May 6-10. With a tradition of giving back to the community and adhering to the mission “To Serve so that other are empowered to thrive,” Week of Service is a company-wide initiative across all nine Markets where Mungo builds throughout South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and Virginia.

Mungo Homes team members in the Upstate this week will us company-allotted paid volunteer hours to work with seven organizations:

Monday, May 6: Daily Bread Ministries. In addition to presenting a check for $2000, team members will prep, cook, and serve meals at the soup kitchen, as well as clean up the garden.

Monday, May 6 and Thursday, May 9: Greenville County Animal Care. Team members will work with the animals getting them ready for adoption.

Monday, May 6 – Tuesday, May 7: Lutheran Family Services of the Carolinas. Unloading and organizing furniture being donated, as well as delivering furniture to families in need.

Tuesday, May 7: Jump Start. Serving lunch to connect staff at Jump Start along with Mungo vendors and trade partners to foster a relationship to for future assistance with job opportunities for prisoners reentering society after incarceration.

Wednesday, May 8: The Dream Center. Team members will do general maintenance and clean up at the facility, including painting, organizing, and gardening.

Wednesday, May 8: Upstate Family Resource Center. Assembling gift bags for graduation, and assisting with graduation dinner on May 14.

Thrsday, May 9: Shriners Childrens Hospital. Activities for patients, including tie-dying, painting, gardening, and providing snack treats.

Organizations were nominated by local Mungo team members and selected by each local board of advisors based on qualifying criteria.

The Mungo Homes Foundation was established in 2021 with the sole mission of improving the communities where Mungo builds by providing economic, educational, health, housing, and emergency hardship support for events such as natural disasters. A portion of each home sold is contributed to the Foundation and is invested in the local community of that home. In 2023, more that $400,000 was donated to worthy organizations across the Mungo footprint while Team Members volunteered more the 3,400 hours.
