Greenville-based financial services company SouthEastern Evaluation has acquired Cooper Insurance, an independent property and casualty insurance firm based in Travelers Rest. The company has been rebranded as Cooper Chapman Insurance LLC and will continue to operate from its office on Center Street.

SouthEastern Evaluation President Mark Chapman said in a news release that the acquisition comes at a good time, with the growth of Travelers Rest and the northern portion of Greenville County, and the recent retirement of Mays Cooper after a career in the industry going back to 1967. Cooper founded Cooper Insurance in 1999.

The company will use technology platforms to streamline business operations and provide service to clients, Chapman said in the release. He said the core customer service team, Chris Cooper and Faithanne Hendrix, will remain part of the new organization. Chapman will take an active role in business development as well as day-to-day management of the firm, the release said.

“The essence of this business has always been about building lasting relationships by providing competitively priced options and personal engagement with every customer,” Chapman said in the release. “Mays Cooper lived those values every day, and that continues to guide our business.”
