Greenville today is the official home of United Community Bank. Following several years of growth in South Carolina, the formerly Georgia-based bank announced its intent to make Greenville its corporate headquarters in February.

“Greenville provides an excellent place for our company to continue our plans for strategic growth,” Lynn Harton, chairman and CEO of United Community Bank, said in a news release. “As we’ve increased our operations here over the past nine years, we’re continually impressed with the strong public-private partnership that helps to thoughtfully grow this community. More importantly, this vibrant community is an excellent place for our employees and their families to live and provides a great opportunity for future recruitment.”

United Community Bank established a presence in Greenville in 2012 and opened its first permanent branch in the area in 2015. The bank continued to grow across the state through a mix of acquisition and organic growth in the Upstate, Charleston, Myrtle Beach, and most recently, Columbia, according to the release. Today, the bank has more than 600 employees in South Carolina and more than 290 in Greenville County. As part of the announcement in February, the bank shared plans to add an additional 227 employees to its corporate headquarters over the next several years.

United Community Bank has $18.6 billion in assets and 161 offices in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee along with a national Small Business Administration lending franchise and a national equipment lending subsidiary, according to the release.

The new headquarters is at 200 East Camperdown Way, flanking the Reedy River.
