Ten at the Top and a coalition that has been studying transportation challenges are ready to share findings and recommendations with the public.

The Connecting Our Future Mobility Vision, along with a set of themes and actionable strategies, will be unveiled during a Connecting Our Future luncheon, presented by Duke Energy, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Aug. 7 at the TD Convention Center in Greenville.

Over the last several months, a transportation and mobility stakeholders coalition from across the Upstate has been working to identify a shared vision and actionable strategies for how to address current and future mobility and connectivity needs, according to a news release from Ten at the Top.

“What we have learned during the process of developing a shared vision around mobility in the Upstate is that creating impactful change for how we move people and goods across the region is not something that can be done by one organization or business and will require many partners and a strategic, multi-step process,” Dean Hybl, executive director of Ten at the Top, said in the news release. Hybl has coordinated the Connecting Our Future effort.

As the Upstate continues to grow, moving people and goods across the region, increasing access to transportation and reducing traffic congestion are key issues that must be addressed at local and regional levels, the news release said. In addition to sharing the regional vision and strategies, the event will include discussion on how to continue growing the coalition of stakeholders and investors needed to ensure positive mobility impacts across the Upstate.

“Having a vision and strategies for how to move forward is an important step, but the key to long-term success will be to continue building a coalition of stakeholders who are committed to working collaboratively to address our local and regional needs and challenges,” Hybl said in the news release. “The Aug. 7 event is a valuable opportunity to acknowledge and share the great work that has been done over the last year to start growing a collaborative mindset, but we know that there is much more that needs to be done and many more stakeholders that will need to be at the table as this effort moves forward.”

The Connecting Our Future initiative is supported by local governments, businesses and nonprofits from across the Upstate. The Steering Level sponsors include Duke Energy, Michelin, Hollingsworth Funds and the Jolley Foundation.

Individual tickets for the Aug. 7 event are $25, including lunch. Check-in will begin at 11 a.m.
