Southwest Airlines on Monday began new daily nonstop service from Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport to Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, known on luggage tags as BWI.

Southwest offers the only nonstop service on the route, providing access to the nation’s capital region and connecting service to additional destinations through BWI, according to a news release.

Flights will operate daily on 143-seat Boeing 737-700 aircraft. The new route complements the airline’s existing service of three daily flights to Atlanta, where travelers can connect to 20 additional cities in the Southwest network, the release said.

Southwest’s flight departs GSP at 1:10 p.m. arriving in Baltimore at 2:40 p.m. Flights from Baltimore depart at 12:35 p.m. and arrive at GSP at 2:15 p.m.

“We are thrilled to have Southwest Airlines invest in the Greenville-Spartanburg market by bringing back its popular Baltimore route” Dave Edwards, GSP president and CEO, said in the release. “This type of commitment from Southwest is the result of the support shown by the community as more and more travelers choose GSP as their airport of choice.”

Six major airlines offer more than 100 daily flights from GSP.
