Plastic cap manufacturer invests $19.7M in Cowpens

Bericap SC LLC, a global plastic cap manufacturer, plans to add several production lines to its Cowpens plant by June 2026.

The $19.7 million investment at 1300 Mt. Olive Road will meet the company’s growing demand from North American customers in the water, dairy, carbonated soft drink and sport beverage markets, according to today’s announcement. The company has invested more than $94 million in the site since its inception in 2008.

“Bericap is a valued corporate citizen in Cherokee County,” Cherokee County Council Chair Tim Spencer said in the news release. “The entire council would like to thank them for choosing Cherokee County as they once again invest in our community.”

Founded in 1926, the company currently employs 100 at its Cowpens plant and plans to grow its workforce along with its production lines, according to the release. The expansion follows company build outs in Malaysia, Argentina and Mexico.

“Manufacturing remains a cornerstone of South Carolina’s economic landscape,” Commerce Secretary Harry M. Lightsey III said in the release. “And, Bericap SC LLC’s expansion not only adds to our manufacturing strength but also shows that our business-friendly environment continues to help our existing businesses prosper.”

Bericap serves customers in more than 100 countries and operates 24 factories around the world. Bericap SC and Bericap subsidiary Sealcoat Technologies are the only company locations in the United States.
