The center will offer same-day surgical procedures, including urology, gynecology and general surgery, according to a Prisma Health news release.

The two-story, 45,351-square-foot surgery center will house six fully built-out operating rooms with the necessary patient and clinical support functions on the upper level, the news release said. The lower level will include space for future development.

(Photo/Provided)“We identified the need for greater access to minimally invasive surgical procedures in an outpatient setting rather than at a hospital,” Dr. Patrick Springhart, a urologist and surgeon at Centennial ASC, said in the release. “We are excited to meet our community’s needs with a new facility and increase access to surgical care.”

According to Prisma Health, benefits of ambulatory surgery centers include convenience and efficiency, lower costs and a decrease in the duplication of health services because it means patients have quicker access to surgery and, therefore, fewer emergency room visits. Patients usually go home that same day, the release said.

Patients are selected for surgery at Centennial ASC by their Prisma Health physician based on the appropriate safety and needs of the patient, according to the release.
