A Texas burger brand officially broke ground at what could be its first South Carolina location to open in Greenville.

Located at 1466 Woodruff Road, Whataburger will feature a state-of-the-art kitchen and open-concept dining room, among other features, according to a news release.

“The countdown begins for Whataburger’s South Carolina debut, our sixteenth state,” said Preston Hughes, Whataburger growth market leader, in the release. “We can’t wait to open our doors this summer and celebrate this milestone with Greenville by creating memorable moments over craveable food.”

As part of the brand’s commitment to the community, Whataburger made a $5,000 donation to Harvest Hope Food Bank through their charitable program, Whataburger Feeding Student Success, supporting students facing food insecurity challenges.

“We look forward to the positive impact Whataburger will have on the Greenville community,” said Greenville Chamber of Commerce CEO Carlos Phillips at the groundbreaking ceremony. “By giving to education, nonprofits, and hunger relief, and ‘providing goodness 24/7’, we are excited to welcome Whataburger in the Upstate.”
