ReWa, Salvation Army offer temporary relief for utility bills

Partnering with the Salvation Army in Greenville, Pickens and Oconee counties, Renewable Water Resources has launched H₂C — its “Help to Community” initiative to aid Upstate residents struggling to pay wastewater utility bills during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rachel Wilkes, community relations director at ReWa, said the program helps bolster the Salvation Army’s ongoing efforts to help those in need within the Upstate community, according to a news release.

Piggybacking on the Salvation Army’s existing assistance program, the initiative is piloted by Greenville Water, the billing agent for most ReWa customers, as it distributes its multi-agency utility bill, and can be requested via forms found on the ReWa website and a Salvation Army giving page.

“REWA has a responsibility to do everything it can to support our greater community,” Graham Rich, CEO of ReWa, said in the release. “Our mission calls us to be responsible and innovative in our approach to providing our services to a growing region, and we’re very proud to work in partnership with The Salvation Army to help those who need it.”
