SCBio: How S.C. Healthcare is Taking On COVID-19

SCBio will host an open webinar on Tuesday, May 19, at 10 a.m. to discuss how the state’s health care systems have responded to the COVID-19 pandemic and what they have learned to meet future public health concerns head on.

“Our goal is to identify and discuss what South Carolina health care has done well, such as widespread implementation of telehealth, advances in equipment and testing, and partnering with other players and states to make a difference,” Sam Konduros, CEO and president of SCBio, said in a news release. “While also addressing the state’s and nation’s challenges including limitations in our rural health systems, and a surprising level of dependence on drugs and equipment from foreign countries.”

Panelists include Dr. Danielle Scheurer, chief quality officer of MUSC Health, Dr. Alain Litwin, the rapid innovation task force leader of Prisma Health’s Health Sciences Center, Thornton Kirby, CEO of the S.C. Hospital Association, and Matthew Roberts, the health care practice chair at Nexsen Pruet law firm.

Konduros will moderate the hour-long discussion.

“The panelists will also share their thoughts on important lessons learned, innovation opportunities and strategies for the future — identifying ways for organizations and the health care industry in S.C. to come together to collectively solve problems and improve treatment and quality of life for all South Carolinians,” he said in the release.
