Methodical Coffee, based in Greenville, will open a store in Columbia, marking its fourth location.

The coffee roasters and owners of three nationally known Greenville coffee shops has secured a location in the BullStreet District, according to a news release. Scheduled to open in early November 2024, the shop will be located at 2149 Pickens St. in downtown Columbia and will be Methodical Coffee’s two-story flagship café.

BullStreet District is a mixed-use complex developed by Hughes Development Corp. and includes Segra Park baseball stadium, event venues, co-working space, apartments, townhomes, office and retail space along with a 20-acre public park.

The first phase of the city-within-a-city, 181-acre lifestyle complex is already open and features REI Sporting Goods and Iron Hill Brewery with a Tupelo Honey restaurant set to open soon, according to the release.

“Our 3,400 square foot coffee shop will include the best features of our three Greenville Methodical cafés. It will have a coffee bar experience like our Downtown shop, retail merchandise like our Stone’s Point location and a food program similar to our offerings at The Commons space,” said Marco Suarez, co-owner of Methodical Coffee, in the release.

The café will feature a covered patio for outdoor seating, and indoor seating on the second level with an interior decorated in dark, rich fabrics and colors, the release stated.

The space will include a separate room called the “library” which will be used for conducting educational demonstrations for home baristas and wholesale training and will also be a quiet space for studying, according to the release. The space will be available to rent for parties, meetings and events.

The food program will feature Methodical x Bake Room baked goods including laminated pastries like croissants, morning buns and breads, as well as grab-and-go items including breakfast sandwiches, and brunch fare like quiche and salads. Methodical-branded merchandise for sale will include their coffee beans, tea, brew gear, hats, apparel, drinkware, and custom-designed T-shirts, the release stated.

“Coffee is at the heart of what we do. Creating a space where customers can enjoy our products in an inviting and inspiring environment is just as important to us as creating a place for members of the community to enjoy each other’s company,” Suarez said in the release.

Methodical Coffee’s goal is to open several flagship cafés across the Southeast. The three other Methodical Coffee locations are in Greenville, and include Downtown at 101 North Main St., Stone’s Point at 207 Wade Hampton Blvd. and The Commons at 147 Welborn St.
