Events part of the anniversary lineup include an evening with Dave Matthews Band on Nov. 8 and two nights of Zach Bryan next spring, May 5-6. The arena’s year-long anniversary celebration kicked off Sept. 3 with the return of Spirit Fest, the venue’s longest running event series, and will continue with additional special events and concerts, including the Greenville Swamp Rabbits season opener on Oct. 21.
"Our silver anniversary milestone is a testament to the unwavering dedication and concerted efforts of everyone who has contributed to the resounding success of Bon Secours Wellness Arena," General Manager Beth Paul said in a news release. "From the awe-inspiring performers and tireless touring crews to the thousands of diligent event workers, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Greenville community and all those who have played a pivotal role in the arena's remarkable journey.”
The Greenville Swamp Rabbits season opener will include nostalgic throwbacks to the predecessor team, the Greenville Grrrowl, including the return of former players, vintage jerseys and more, the news release said. The Dave Matthews Band concert will mark the renowned American rock band’s first return to the Upstate since they last performed at The Well in 2001. Zach Bryan brings country music to the arena in May 2024.
Since its opening in 1998, the arena has played host to more than 12 million fans and nearly 3,000 commercial and community events showcasing some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry including Taylor Swift, Prince, Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, Pearl Jam, Morgan Wallen, Shania Twain, The 1975 and The Eagles, among others. The venue has also hosted popular shows such as Disney on Ice, Monster Jam, Trans-Siberian Orchestra and WWE. On average, The Well welcomes approximately 500,000 visitors each year, the release said, creating more than 500 full-time jobs and injecting more than $70 million into the Greenville metro area annually.
Janet Jackson took the stage at the then Bi-Lo Center on Sept. 3, 1998. Jackson’s performance marked the debut of the venue and ushered in a new era of live entertainment in Greenville after The Auditorium closed its doors in 1997.
