A Washington, D.C.-based Mediterranean fast-casual restaurant brand opened its newest location in Greenville on Woodruff Road on Friday, March 15.

Cava’s new location at 1156 Woodruff Road is one of more than 45 new restaurant openings planned in 2024, according to a Cava news release, but a Cava spokesperson said they are unable to disclose how many of those locations are planned in the state.

Cava  opened 19 new restaurants in Q4 of 2023, bringing its total restaurant count to 309. The Woodruff Road location will be Cava’s 11th South Carolina location.

On one of the restaurant’s recent earnings calls, Tricia Toiva, Cava’s chief financial officer, said, “Cava continues to be pleased with the top-line and margin performance of new restaurant openings. In addition, our proven portability is reflected in our overall AUV above $2.6 million with all geographies $2.3 million or more,” which also speaks to the brand’s economic impact, a Cava spokesperson said.

With Mediterranean-inspired bowls, pitas, dips and dressings, the fast-casual restaurant chain serves food that’s aimed to help people “eat well and live well,” the release states.

“Our mission is to bring heart, health and humanity to food, and everything we do at Cava is grounded in that spirit of generosity, to our guests, our team members and our community,” said Louie Lovejoy, a Cava regional director, in the release. “We couldn’t be more excited to open a new restaurant in Greenville on Woodruff Road.”

Cava also partnered with Loaves and Fishes and Greenville Rescue Mission to donate unused food to local community members throughout the restaurant’s pre-opening training period. The company launched its food donation program in fall 2023 to improve food insecurity and reduce food waste as Cava expands to new locations, the release states.

Cava’s new Greenville restaurant will employ 30-35 local people.
