Spartanburg-based AFL has received the 2019 Business of Integrity Award for Community Service from the Better Business Bureau of the Upstate.

The Business of Integrity Awards recognize “outstanding businesses for commitment to exceptional marketplace standards that benefit their consumers, employees, suppliers, industry peers and the communities in which they do business and serve,” a news release said.

“Their culture of volunteerism and dedication to serving their community sets AFL apart from other companies, which is why we are proud to select them as a 2019 Business of Integrity Award winner,” Vee Daniel, president and CEO of the Better Business Bureau of the Upstate, said in the release.

Nominations are submitted by customers or the companies themselves. Rather than being decided by popularity, nominees are put through an application process evaluating the company's “demonstrated commitment to business practices that build trust with employees, customers and vendors in the marketplace,” according to the release.

“AFL has a robust community outreach program built on the belief that we can create a better community through our efforts, whether financial or through volunteerism,” Corie Culp, community relations manager for AFL, said in the release. “We are supported by a community advisory board that consists of several Upstate community leaders. With their input and feedback, we feel confident we are focusing our efforts in the right areas.”
