Bon Secours St. Francis Health System will open a clinic Wednesday to serve the staff and students of Legacy Early College.

The primary care clinic, called Legacy Early College Health Center, will be staffed by a nurse practitioner and a medical assistant, according to a news release. The clinic is near the school at 1010 Woodside Ave. in Greenville. The clinic will give teachers, students and other staff members an affordable and convenient treatment option for everyday illness and injury, from allergic reactions to sprains and strains, as well as lab testing needs, the release said.

“We are grateful to the staff of Bon Secours St. Francis Health System for their hard work in expanding the services we can offer,” William Brown, founder and board chairman for Legacy Early College, said in the release. “At Legacy Early College, we strive for excellence in everything we do. Along with our vision that every scholar gets to and through college, we can now offer free, high-quality medical care to all our staff and scholars. This is a big step forward for our community.”

The long-term goal for the facility is to expand health services to the community surrounding the school.

“Our mission of providing compassionate and quality health care to the communities we serve continues to propel our investment in expanding the care options available in Greenville County and beyond,” Erik Whaley, president of the St. Francis Foundation, said in the release. “We want to share our heartfelt gratitude to individuals, local businesses and organizations whose support for our ministry have been instrumental in bringing the new health center to fruition. This would not be possible without their generosity and commitment to making a difference in the lives of all we are so privileged to serve.”

The Legacy Early College Health Center, a project that cost more than $520,000, was funded entirely by the St. Francis Foundation. The clinic will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. Patients can walk in or set up appointments in advance to receive care.  Treatment will be available even to those who don’t have insurance, the release said.

Bon Secours St. Francis Health System includes 24 other locations in the area, including its hospitals, Bon Secours St. Francis Downtown and Bon Secours St. Francis Eastside, as well as a network of primary and specialty care practices, and ambulatory care sites.
