Compass of Carolina and local partners host Concert for a Cause

Compass of Carolina, a nonprofit that offers counseling services and aids victims of domestic violence, will host a virtual concert and fundraising event today at 7 p.m. via Facebook Live in partnership with local businesses and artists.

Chords of Compassion: Concert for a Cause, presented by Wells Fargo, will feature jazz and soul quintet The Jamie Wright Band and, for viewers who want to purchase a meal package, dinner from Greenville’s Table 301, which operates several restaurants. Participants are also encouraged to purchase a luminary at Mast General Store or at The Shops at Greenridge to raise awareness for abuse victims during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, according to a news release. All proceeds from the luminaries, sold for $25 in bundles of 10, will go toward Child Therapy Kits used in post-traumatic counseling services.

“During the pandemic, domestic violence has risen dramatically,” Kimberly Ward, executive director of Compass of Carolina, said in the release. “Victims and their families do not need to suffer in silence. That’s why we are here — to help break the cycle of unhealthy behaviors to lead to healing and hope for a brighter future. Our Chords of Compassion event is one of the most significant ways that people can get involved and show their support.”

Tickets for the concert can be purchased on Eventbrite.
