WYFF 4 raised at least $76,500 for Safe Harbor during its “Day 4 Giving” virtual telethon on March 3.

The funding will go toward programs that aid victims of domestic violence, according to a news release.

“The giving spirit in this community is tremendous,” John Humphries, president and general manager of WYFF 4, said in the release. “When we show viewers there is a need, they never hesitate to step up and help those who are most vulnerable. WYFF 4 is committed to local partnerships with organizations like Safe Harbor to help aid recovery during this pandemic and beyond.”

Donations for Safe Harbor were still coming in on March 4 via the news channel, according to the release, which Safe Harbor Executive Director Becky Callaham said will bridge a “huge gap” in the nonprofit’s funding deficits for 2021.

“We are overwhelmed at the generosity of our community, who has stepped up to help us provide hope and healing for victims of domestic violence and their families,” she said in the release.
