Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette will deliver the keynote address at SC Biz News’ inaugural Empowering Women recognition event.
The event will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Feb. 20 at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Columbia.
This new, statewide recognition is designed to showcase tangible and innovative efforts by companies, nonprofits and other organizations to advance women in the workplace and community in South Carolina.
Honorees demonstrate a track record of hiring and promoting women; support programs to mentor women in their organizations and address inequalities, show a strong record of women on the company’s board or in C-suite positions; and establish DEI programs and philanthropic efforts to support women.

Honorees will also be featured in a special section to appear in all of SC Biz News’ journals — the Charleston Regional Business Journal, the Columbia Regional Business Report and GSA Business Report — as well as online.
Evette, of Travelers Rest, was elected as the 93rd Lieutenant Governor of South Carolina on Nov. 6, 2018.
Prior to her election as the first female Republican lieutenant governor of South Carolina, Evette, a mother of three, founded Quality Business Solutions Inc., a payroll, human resources, and benefits services firm headquartered in Travelers Rest.
Under her leadership as president and CEO, QBS has grown exponentially, going from start-up to earning a spot on the Inc. 5000 listing of the nation’s fastest growing small businesses. Evette’s company has also been repeatedly honored among the fastest growing and best places to work in South Carolina.
