Patterson, a fine-dining venue named after a branch of the Hartness family tree, will open this coming fall at Greenville's Hartness planned community.

The restaurant, housed in Hotel Hartness, will include outdoor dining options and a menu featuring local and regional meal items with produce sourced from the community’s on-site farm, according to a news release. 

Hartness Executive Chef Tanner Marino will draw from his Southern heritage and time as a chef at Greenville’s Devereaux’s and the Hyatt Regency to direct Patterson’s culinary operations. Marino also oversees Village Kitchen, a fast casual dining experience on the property.

Viva Chicken and Tetrad Brewing Co. raised $640 for Greenville’s Mill Village Farms during its sale of Chicha Morada, a Peruvian-style ale, in December. 

The ale, made from purple corn, pineapple, apples and cloves was available at Tetrad Brewing’s Greenville taproom and at Viva Chicken’s Greenville restaurant on Woodruff Road. 

According to a company spokesperson, the donation helped provided more than 60 families with food boxes of locally grown fruits and vegetables. 

Viva Chicken plans to open a second Upstate location this spring at 3622 Pelham Road. 

Flying Biscuit brings pancake favorites back on menu 

Greenville’s Flying Biscuit Café is opting in for baked goods with better aerodynamics this February in celebration of National Pancake Month. 

For the month, the café’s 656 S. Main St. location will serve red velvet pancakes with cream cheese frosting and fresh strawberries. On Feb. 14, guests will also receive a Valentine gift of one free chocolate biscuit bread pudding per table, according to a news release.
